How Art Therapy Helps With PTSD
What is PTSD?
Post Traumatic Stress Disorder is a condition that can be complex in understanding but actually is simple in it’s formation. Trauma is shock. When you experience any kind of shock your body and your mind “freeze” the moment(s) and actually store the trauma emotionally and neurologically, down to the level of your body’s cells.
Art psychotherapy is able to facilitate the expression of trauma that may not be available to the conscious mind. Through gentle, carefully guided release we are able to unlock the trauma, resolve the stress, and build conscious insight that provides understanding and control of what was previously being experienced as uncontrollable.
This opens the door to authentic and long lasting healing.
